Trends are the most important indicators in Presidential Polls

We are obsessed with the daily poll numbers we get everyday from the press. I’ve been noticing some very disturbing trends in the reporting of polls on National TV.

I watch a lot of TV (Current TV, MSNBC and CNN) on a daily basis and have noticed that commentators are more likely to focus on the polls that lean their way. Many Democrats, me included, are hanging our hopes on Nate Silver. I watch his site day and night waiting for his latest projections.

Every morning I watch Morning Joe on MSNBC. Joe Scarborough consistently points out the daily polls that give Mitt Romney an edge and discounts Nate Silver and his projection models over and over. On Thursday morning, even though he was not on the show that day, Joe Scarborough spent his morning dissing Nate Silver on Twitter. Here is Nate Silver’s response to Joe’s tweets:

Nate Silver tweets to Joe Scarborough

Margaret Sullivan on The New York Times Opinion Pages, quoted Joe Scarborough.

“Anybody that thinks that this race is anything but a tossup right now is such an ideologue, they should be kept away from typewriters, computers, laptops and microphones for the next 10 days, because they’re jokes.”

The above words are those of Joe Scarborough, host of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” program. He’s talking about Nate Silver, the statistics wizard whose FiveThirtyEight blog is licensed by The New York Times, and who writes for The Times frequently online as well as in print. Mr. Silver also has a desk in The Times’s newsroom.

The point I’m trying to make is that it’s all about the trend in the polls.  In this image of Nate Silver’s prediction from today, you can clearly see the down trend for President Obama after the first Presidential debate, the up trend after the second an third Presidential Debates and the sharp up trend after Hurricane Sandy.

Nate Silver's Presidential prediction from November 3, 2012

Hey Joe Scarborough, even you have to admit that it’s all about the trends and clearly, President Obama has the momentum to bring this home in a BIG way.

Joe, during the primaries you consistently said that Mitt Romney is a flawed candidate, yet now you are on the Romney bandwagon. Why would you back a flawed candidate, because he’s the best of the worst that ran for President on the Republican ticket? It’s pretty sad that you would back a man with little integrity who consistently lies to the American public just because he’s the last Republican standing. This is the same mindset that gave us Sarah Palin. Maybe you’re the joke Joe, not the rest of who are voting in the best interest of the country.

Mitt Romney, 24 lies in 41 minutesDo you love the Biden men as much as I do? You have to love someone who speaks his mind and the honest truth at the same time (this is a lesson for you Mitt).

On Morning Joe today, broadcast in my town, from Racks in Boca Raton, Florida. Biden spoke the truth about Mitt Romney. He spoke of not just his debate performance last night in the third Presidential Debate, but also about Mitt as a man and his lack of integrity.

As we already know, Mitt Romney lies about everything, today Beau Biden calls him out.

Attorney General Beau Biden tells America that Mitt Romney will say anything to get elected. His own home state doesn’t support him and he’s not even campaigning there. What does it say when the population of the only state where Mitt Romney has ever governed, in the only election he has ever won in 20 years of trying, don’t want anything to do with him?

Janeane from Des MoinesLast night John Fugelsang had Jane Edith Wilson as a guest on his show So That Happened to talk about her new movie project Janeane from Des Moines

A conservative Iowa housewife’s personal and political convictions are severely tested as she seeks answers from the Republican presidential candidates leading up to the 2012 Iowa Caucuses.

Starring Jane Edith Wilson, Mitt Romney, Michele Bachmann, Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum, Rick Perry and many more

Directed by Grace Lee

Produced & Written by Grace Lee and Jane Edith Wilson

When asked why the film was made, the filmmakers said “Politics has become so polarized in the US that it’s hard to imagine what a civilized conversation about abortion, gay marriage, or healthcare reform might look like. By making this film, we decided to insert ourselves into the dialogue. We wanted to probe a question that has confounded us over the last few years: why are there so many people in America whose political views lead them to vote against what appear to be their own self-interests? We don’t have the answer but we hope that by making this film we can at least start to talk about it.

Go see this film if you get a chance, a schedule of showings can be seen here: http://janeanefromdesmoines.com/

Mitt Romney, will his GREED never end? Watch out America, he’ll only boost his bottom line.

Bain PortThe GREED of Mitt Romney, and his political backers like the Koch Brothers, astounds me. They will do absolutely anything they have to, no matter who it hurts or kills, to increase their own bank accounts.

Make no mistake, the Koch Brothers want to get rid of environmental regulations so that they can willingly spew poison into our air and water supply. Environmental protections are there for a reason, to protect the American public from unscrupulous business practices. It costs less money to poison you than it does to protect you. These companies are already making record profits, but it’s never enough.

Please tell me when enough is enough. Wouldn’t you think that having more money than you can spend in 100 lifetimes would  be enough?

Mitt Romney thinks nothing of shipping American jobs overseas, raiding pension funds for his own profit and doing business in foreign countries to avoid paying his fair share of taxes.

Is this the man you want for President? Are you willing to put him in a position of influence over financial regulations knowing his only priority is his own bottom line?

Are willing to put him in charge of Environmental regulations knowing he owes over $400 million dollars worth of favors to the Koch Brothers?

Per David Firestone of The New York Times

“…Mr. Romney’s generous retirement agreement ensures that he continues to profit from the deals and decisions that Bain makes. He owns about $8 million worth of Bain funds that hold 51 percent of Sensata’s shares. If Sensata saves money by closing the Freeport plant, that could add money to Mr. Romney’s trust accounts, now or after the election.”

Greetings from Bainport, Illinois

We’re workers at Bain Capital-owned Sensata, 2520 Walnut St, Freeport, Illinois. We’re fighting to save our jobs from being shipped to China by the end of this year. We are calling on Mitt Romney to come to Freeport, IL and we will camp across the street from our plant for as long as it takes!

Romney’s Bain Selling Out American Workers to China (DemocraticUnderground.com)

UPDATED: Sensata Story Will Destroy Romney -Romney’s Bain Currently Selling Out US Workers to China

UPDATE #5:

PDF of the report that shows wage calculations for those in China and pictures of the factory in China. Download and save and send people, this is crazy stuff.

Update #10

Was Sensata technologies in trouble? No, it was doing great. But they wanted more money. Read the report below to find out the truth

Bain Capital was founded by Mitt Romney in 1984 as a global private investment firm. Sensata Technologies, a Bain affiliate, was formed in April 2006 when the company purchased Texas Instruments’ sensors and controls division for $770 million. Just four years later, by 2010, Bain’s original investment had quadrupled to $3.2 billion, we believe largely due to outsourcing.

In 2011, when Bain and Sensata executives informed the Freeport workers, somewhat cavalierly, that they would be terminated in November 2012 and went on to explain that they were temporarily leasing the factory but were purchasing the machinery and the workers’ skills to train Chinese engineers before the work was shipped to China.

In fact, Mr. Jacob Sayer — a Sensata spokesperson, said they were closing the Freeport plant in order to cut costs. Mr. Sayer went on: “If that had not been part of the strategy, then the deal would not have been so attractive.” When questioned by Paul Harris of The Guardian (August 10, 2012), the same spokesperson refused to comment, saying “We don’t have a statement on the impact it has on Freeport.”

Bain and Sensata executives did not have a lot of time to talk about the 170 workers being terminated at the Freeport plant. The executives have had more pressing issues, such as setting up 12 Sensata/Bain capital funds “organized under the laws of the Cayman Islands” so as to avoid paying taxes.

Why Mitt Romeny won’t save 170 Sensata jobs.

Mitt Romney lies about everything, he has no compassion for anyone or anything. Don’t be fooled – MUST SEE

Mitt Romney lying in front of hard working miners

Not only were these miners forced by their employer to stand behind Mitt Romney, they were off work without pay and forced to contribute to Mitt Romney’s campaign.

On every issue in this election, Mitt Romney tells you what he thinks you want to hear, changing his positions depending on the crowd he’s talking to. The next day his campaign reps state that what Mitt said the day before was not his true position. Too bad this walking back never gets to the people who heard the original statement.

Mitt’s now campaigning on his record in Massachusetts? Don’t believe it. Why is Mitt Romney not ahead in his home state? He’ll probably lose the state by 30 points, that’s a recommendation that America should listen to.

According to Rick Holmes of the MetroWest Daily News, Rep. David Linsky told him that Mitt was such an elitist in office that he did the following:

  • He put a velvet rope across the door to keep people from walking into the governor’s offices
  • He commandeered an elevator for his exclusive use

Also,  as reported today by Danny Hakim of the New York Times: As Massachusetts Governor, Romney Was Often Away

BOSTON — When the ceiling collapsed in the Big Dig tunnel here, Gov. Mitt Romney was at his vacation home in New Hampshire. When the Bush administration warned that the nation was at high risk of a terror attack in December 2003, he was at his Utah retreat. And for much of the time the legislature was negotiating changes to his landmark health care bill, he was on the road.

During Mr. Romney’s four-year term as governor of Massachusetts, he cumulatively spent more than a year — part or all of 417 days — out of the state, according to a review of his schedule and other records. More than 70 percent of that time was spent on personal or political trips unrelated to his job, a New York Times analysis found.

Listen to Rachel Maddow explain the walking back of Mitt Romney’s positions, proving that you can’t believe a word he says, he’ll lie straight to your face without blinking.  This is a man without conviction and absolutely no integrity. Anyone who backs his presidency should be ashamed of themselves for attempting to force this hollow man on the American public.
